The show is scheduled for Monday at 10pm central time at this link.

If you cannot listen on Monday, you can always download the podcast for listening at your own leisure.

I am a fan of Paul Wheaton, now I have said before that I don’t enjoy his sense of humor much, but I totally respect what he has built and the knowledge he has acquired.  As a matter of fact, when I have a sticky problem I normally start my search for a solution at the forum that Paul Wheaton runs – permies.com.

Permies is one of the best permiculture websites on the planet.  The have threads on homestead building, plants, tools, and all manner of things related to homesteading.  They have a strong culture in the forums, I have always gotten some help when I ask questions on the site.

His guys are pretty helpful and are definitely knowledgeable.  I really admire the work he has done at permies.

In this episode of the Shepherd School, David talks with James Smith aka The Covert Prepper.

The Covert Prepper has an interesting background, he covertly raised chickens on a small lot gardens without people recognizing the food items, and does all manner of preparedness activities without drawing attention to himself.

While I don’t try to be covert in my prepping, I do see the attractiveness in doing so.

Actually If I had to do it over again I probably would have spent more time working at being anonymous in my work.

During this podcast We discuss covert gardening, caching, codes, and share some philosophy talk. You can visit him online at his YouTube Channel.

Here is the link for Monday the 28 of January’s show.

In tonight’s show we are going to discuss gun safety – since this show is going to deal with firearms I think it is important for everyone (not just the rational) to realize that a gun is not going to jump up an shoot something on its own.

Proper precautions prevent a lot of things – and when it comes to guns – following some simple firearm safety rules prevent tragedy.

Gun safety knowledge is essential to preppers – as well as to anyone that owns or is around firearms of all types.  It is not hard to be safe around firearms, but it does take the willingness to take responsibility for your own actions and pay attention to what is going on around you.

If you forget the link the show is easy to find – simply visit blogtalkradio.com and use the search bar to look up the Shepherd Show.  We are in the family section – because our show is family friendly.

Unlike my site which occasionally allows me to discuss religion and politics – you won’t here any of those topics on the podcast.  Today it is strictly gun safety

In our opening show we will discuss our goals for the Preparedness Radio Network show, the mindset behind what we are doing, and the background of the host.

We also discuss how David gets his ideas, and he will discuss the newest idea shared with him, which was an easy way to prevent mold growing in the milk bottles his young son likes to hide…

You can download the show to listen later at this link.

l am quite happy to be a host for preparedness radio network.  I hope the show lasts for a while.  I enjoy helping others and I think that podcasting is another way to do that.

One thing I worry about is coming up with enough ideas to keep a weekly podcast and a weekly youtube video without messing up the quality of either.

Luckily there is a lot of information to explore and share.  My goal is that we actually converse and people call in and talk.  I find a two way discussion is much more fun that a lecture.  Besides when people talk they learn more than when a single person just rambles on.
