The Do-it-Yourself Submachine Gun

The Do-it-Yourself Submachine Gun shows how to build your own 9mm, blowback, selective-fire submachine gun that’s as powerful as an Uzi or HK MP5 but has fewer parts and is more durable. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions and machinist’s drawings in this book. For academic study only.I am fond of both DIY gunsmithing books and explosive manuals, and as I have long said, I believe that a free state depends on good men having that information to live as a deterrent to invasion and tyranny.  However, as a loyal American citizen that understands the need of the individual to live within the law I do not advocate in actually constructing these tools without the proper permissions.

As long as this country lives under the rule of law, we must also live under the rules no matter how stupid we think the current firearm laws are.

However, if I am ever made an outlaw because of my political, social, or religious views, this would be an example of the books I would need to live as an outlaw….

The information is straightforward, and the product is of good quality.  The Do-it-Yourself Submachine Gun does take some skill and certain tools to construct, but it is not out of the abilities of a good handyman that pays attention to detail.

Corn Cob Jelly Recipe

Corn Cob Jelly Recipe

Recipe: Corn Cob Jelly

This week’s project is one that I have seen on many internet sites and multiple canning and old school food preservation books. It took me a while to get around to trying it, but when I did I found that corn cob jelly tastes a lot like honey it made me wish I did this much sooner.

I typically only cook corn on the cob when grilling out with my family, and when I do so, I tend to cook a lot of corn. This recipe lets me turn the normally wasted water from boiling corn into a tasty food product in itself.

However, I feel like I should let you know that traditionally red field corn was used. Personally I have only used sweet corn.

Ingredients:

  • 12 large ears of corn
  • 2 quarts water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 package powdered pectin
  • Sugar (amount will vary, but 4-5 cups should be enough)

Equipment:

  • Knife
  • Measuring Cup
  • Non-Reactive (Steel) Pot
  • Spoon
  • Canning Funnel
  • Canning Jars, Lids, Rings
  • Water Bath Canner
  • Canning Jar Lifter
  • Towel

Procedure:

  • Cook corn, cut kernels from cobs and store for another use.

  • Measure 2 quarts water into a large pot; add corn cobs.
  • Bring water to a boil and keep uncovered at a rolling boil for 30 minutes to concentrate the liquid
  • I try to boil it down until I get 3.5 to 4 cups of liquid.
  • Stir in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • Add pectin and bring to a boil.
  • Add sugar cup per cup to match the measure of your corn liquid. Stir to dissolve sugar.
  • Bring pot to a rolling boil. Boil for one minute while stirring constantly.
  • Remove from heat. 10. Ladle hot corn cob jelly into hot jars.
  • Adjust lids and bands.
  • Process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
  • Add enough water in the canner to cover lids with one inch of water
  • Start time when water is boiling

Yield: 5 half-pints

Tworld Hunting Rifle Bipod Review

Gear Review: Tworld Hunting Rifle Bipod

#riflebipod

I got this rifle bipod for a review and frankly I did not expect much, but it turned out to be a pretty decent bipod.  I would not use it for a 1 mile high power shot, but for hunting or messing around at 300-400 yards it looks like it would do well.

It is sturdy and a proven design.  if I am being honest (and I did get this for an honest review) I don’t like the bipod legs – they look to be the week spot in the bipod design.  But to be fair, I don’t think they will be a problem in normal use.

This rifle bipod went on easy and I particularly like the rail adaptor.  I probably would pay $10 just for it.

All in all I would give this 4 out of 5 stars and would probably buy one if I needed another bipod.  Of course you do get what you pay for and while I would use this for a truck gun, a beater, or a loaner, I probably would not use this on my main rifle or for serious use.

But, as I said, the rail adaptor is pretty sturdy and I plan on using that even when I don’t use the bipod.

Body weight Exercise Cards Review

#NewMeFitness

I got these body weight exercise cards for my wife because she is serious about getting healthy and loosing weight.  Personally I use my fat as warmth in the winter.  When I got these cards she was not in the mood to do a video and right before I made the video I made her mad – so instead of actually seeing these really cool cards in use you get me talking about it.

I like the cards, but I don’t like ya’ll enough to show myself sweating an cursing trying to do a sit-up.

These cards are really good though, if I am serious about it.  they make exercising easier because they have clear instructions, accurate pictures, and easy to follow workouts.

I like training cards like these, they don’t take up a lot of space and are simple to use.  Cards are also pretty cost effective.  I have card decks for wild plant identification, dry fire firearm training, and of course lots of scenario cards from conflicted.

I think they are worth buying, even if I got my set from tomoson for a review.  I did not get paid for my opinion, but I did get these body weight exercise cards at a discount in exchange for this review.

Easy@Home Blood Pressure Monitor Review

Easy@Home Blood Pressure Monitor Review

Easy@Home Blood Pressure Monitor Review#EBP095LARGECUFF

This is an easy to use home blood pressure monitor. I like it because I never could get the hang of reading blood pressure with a sphygmomanometer. However I think every at home medical kit – especially one for preppers needs the ability to read blood pressure. This one has a memory and give both a numerical reading and a color coded backlit screen to tell at a glance if your where you should be with blood pressure.

This comes in three sizes (large is shown) so be careful if you order one.  My kid likes playing doctor with it and this electronic Blood Pressure Monitor is simple enough a four year old can successfully use it on a cooperating adult.  I have to be careful though, as I have to hide the results from m wife as they are not as perfect readings as she would like.  However, my blood pressure is not too bad because I am a pretty calm guy.

I do recommend a manual blood pressure test kit containing a stethoscope and a sphygmomanometer, but you would also need to develop the skill to actually read blood pressure with the manual tools.

This is a review of a product I got in exchange for evaluating it.
