Between my wife and my son I can’t keep flashlights.  He likes to play with them, and She is scared of thunderstorms.  I keep buying some and handing them on doorknobs.  However, they never seem to get put back on the doorknobs.

This is just a typical LED 1000 lumen tactical style rechargeable LED flashlight, but it has some neat additional features.

    Unique Features:

    • It is rechargeable.  It has a built-in USB charging port make it easier and quicker to charge the flashlight.  The flashlight only takes 2 hours to charge and can keep working on the highest setting for 1.5 hours or more.
    • It doubles as a bike light with the included 360 degree swivel mount bracket. The flashlight rotates to shine any directions you want. It also is easy to slide in and out of the bracket without having to detach the mount from the bike.  I don’t ride bikes a lot, but this looks like a handy option for my ladder rack on the red truck.

    Additional Features:

    • Output brightness: 1000 lumen range out to 350 yards.
    • Waterproof : IP-65 (Don’t put it into water directly.)
    • 4 switch Modes: high / middle /strobe / SOS
    • Peak Beam intensity: 25700cd
    • Lamp base: XML-T6 Highlight LED. With a lifespan of up to 100,000 hours or more, no need to
consider replacing it for the whole life
    • Material: high quality aero-grade aluminum alloy, this flashlight is sturdy and durable
    • Power by included 18650 battery. Unscrew the tail cap to change the battery if you need.
    • Internal wiring applies the high efficient booster circuit, working voltage is wide and can utilize the batteries in the largest extent

    The package includes:

This $19.99 Prime shipping Victagen 18650 Tactical Rechargeable LED Flashlight comes with the light, one bike mount bracket, a USB charging cord, and one 18650 rechargeable Li-ion battery.  So far I am very happy with the light and am probably going to stick it in my wife’s purse so that she will stop stealing all the emergency lights I keep storing around the house.

    Book Review: The Tactical Pistol

Big-city cop and gunfight veteran Gabe Suarez teaches you the most vital lessons and techniques for prevailing in any situation where you must draw your weapon.

Chapters in The Tactical Pistol include The Dynamics of a Gunfight, The Rules of Close-Quarter Combat, Holding Hostiles at Gunpoint and more.

This is not the only Suarez book I have reviewed because he has written several books worth reviewing.  I particularly like his book on the combative perspective.

This particular book builds upon the mindset lessons of the combative perspective by showing specific pistol techniques that you should master.

This is not the only pistol tactics book I own, and I do not think it should be your only book on handgun fighting – but I do think it is worth owning.

If you add this book to your library on pistol combat you are not wasting your time, money, or shelf space.  Which is saying a lot because for me, after collecting as many books as I have shelf space is pretty valuable.

I recommend the Tactical Pistol as a useful book to read as you study the science of handgun survival.  Read books like this from the old masters and add that to the work of the new masters and you will quickly gain skill.

  • Survival Hax’s Tactical Pen Review

    Survival Hax’s Tactical Pen Review

Tactical PenI just reviewed another cool product from Survival Hax.  This tactical pen is my favorite product so far (and my boy really liked the survival kit.

I was looking for a pen I could take to work, but this one just won’t make into the prison I work at.  It is easily considered a weapon.

Its sturdy construction, the titanium glass breaker tip, and the hidden fire starter all make this inappropriate for use in a controlled facility. – however, this hard core pen is very useful.

I keep it hanging on my rear view mirror.  If I get in a wreck it can help save my life by breaking the safety glass – and if I get attacked the solid construction and sharp tip can easily be used to protect my life – It gets additional points for being a simple pen.

This 4 in 1 tactical pen is a great product and I am glad survival hax gave me the opportunity to review it.

Iron Sights AR15 Tactical 45 Degree Offset

As I said in the video, I am not used to fancy items to add to my guns.  I like plain stock workhorses that are light and robust.  However, with some recent builds I created some AR-15’s without the normal front  sight post that I am used to.  Because of this I added a BUIS (Back Up Iron Sight) to my rail.  This works in the event the batteries die on my reflex sight or I just smash it up.

I like redundancy, and this set is pretty strong.  It is much stronger than the last pop up rear sight I installed.  I like it much better.

While I do need to go shoot a lot of rounds to get used to transitioning between sights and my offset BUIS system, I like this one very much.  Aukmont did a fine job on these sights.

These sights are pretty strong and fit tightly.  This is important with sights as you don’t want them working loose under recoil.  Now I must say I did not run a large amount of rounds through these sights – only a couple hundred to get a good idea on the quality.  But I don’t see anything wrong with them.

The Tactical Advantage and learn the combat-proven techniques big-city cops use to stay alive and effective when the bullets start flying.

Maintain the tactical advantage in any situation by knowing how to search buildings for armed intruders, use cover and concealment, maintain proper distance intervals and much more. There is some political viewpoints and religious scripture that turn some away from this work.  I understand the mindset and agree with most of it.  However, I feel like it should be mentioned in a review.

My biggest issue with this book is that it needs to be updated.  It is pretty old and some of the pictures look like the 1980’s  Which is pretty accurate given the career of the author.

Now the base mindset of a warrior doesn’t change – I imagine if a Samurai woke up in today’s America he would quickly learn how to run an AR platform rifle.

This book is not a definitive study of gunfighting techniques, but I do think his arguments on room clearing are valuable.  I have my own views of the subject – namely don’t clear alone – but for a cop or someone that has no choice, his words should be read.

While I don’t think the Tactical Advantage is the best book on the subject, I do think it has a place in a well read prepper’s bookshelf.
